this Jacob Alford was a pioneer to Robeson Co. NC. He lived
west of Ashpole Church, near Roseland, NC and later settled at
Alfordsville, 21/2 miles NW of Ashpole church. He is buried in
a cem called "Fulmore" or "Alford's Cemetery." He was a member
of NC general assembly from Robeson Co 1791-2 and 1793-95.
Jacob Alford married Mary Pace. Their descendants married into
the Quin family at three points in Pike Co. MS.
Jacob Alford and Mary Pace had 8 children: Sion, Warren, Wiley,
James L., Lad, Cynthia, Elias, and Charity.
Sion Alford m. 1st Clarky McTyer m. 2nd Catherine McPhail. son
by 2nd marriage was Alexander "Sandy" Alford b 1827 in Robeson
Co. NC d 30 Mar 1912 m. Jan 7, 1857 in MS Mary Caroline BRIDGES
(dau of Rev Richard Robert Bridges (Nancy Quin Bridges line-have
more info).
another son was James L. Alford m. Alice McTyer. 9 children,
including:
Julius Caesar Alford m. Mary Jane Cammack (dau of Thomas Cammack
and Isabella Neally (they came from Ireland to SC in 1795 and
then MS they m. into the Quin family at 5 points). Julius had
Martha Catherine Alford b 1836 d 1872 m. James Bridges son of
Rev Richard Robert Bridges; and Dr. James Thomas Alford m.
Martha Traweek, and 2nd Julia Steele, dau of Archibald Steele
(Catchings Family records). Jacob Elias Alford b 1880 m. in
1905 Ella Rebecca Quin.
