Richard DUDLEY. Son of Edward DUDLEY & Elizabeth PRITCHARD. Born
Circa 1623 in Bristol, England. Died Circa 1687 in Virginia.
Richard was sheriff of Gloucester County, Virginia in 1657. In
1679, he was appointed Colonel of the militia in Gloucester
County, Virginia.

Princess Anne Co), "where I now live," and all his stock and
cattle and other property. 1667 he was elected a member of the
Vestry of Kingston Parish, Gloucester Co, and 12 years later was
appointed colonel of militia in Gloucester Co."

Colonial Va Lineage,p.109: Richard Dudley,son of Edward Dudley,
was born ca 1623 in Bristol, ENG. In 1645 he md Mary Seawell. In
1646 he was summoned to Orphans Court in York Co to file
guardian report. In 1654 Thomas Sax, Rector of one of the
chapels of Lancaster Co., in his Will left a legacy to "Richard
Dudley, second son of Edward Dudley." In 1657, he became Sheriff
of Gloucester County, Va., and in 1659 he patented land on
Mojack Bay, Gloucester Co.,where his elder brother William
Dudley, resided. In 1661, Richard Dudley, describing himself as
a merchant, sold his plantation in Lower Norfolk Co., Lynhaven
Parish (now Princess Anne Co.), "where I now live," and all his
stock & cattle & other property. In 1667, he was elected a
member of the Vestry of Kingston Parish, Gloucester County, and
12 years later was appointed colonel of militia in the same
county, where he died ca 1687.
