Jim LIMBER

ABT 1850 - ____

ID Number: I60903

  • RESIDENCE: Richmond, VA
  • BIRTH: ABT 1850
  • RESOURCES: See: [S2272]
Father: Jefferson Finis DAVIS of The Confederate States
Mother: Varina Anne Banks HOWELL of The Confederate States

Notes

"The President and Varina adopted a negro boy by the name of Jim Limber who lived with the family until separated by force from the Davis children by Union soldiers following the capture of Mr. Davis in Georgia. President Davis (from prison) wrote Union General Saxton, an old friend from army days, to look out for the education and welfare of Jim Limber. No one knows what happened to Jim Limber. After being released, President Davis continued the search, to no avail."
