Seeking information about will and estate of Philip Bowman,
oldest son of Isaac Bowman, son of George and Mary (Hite)
Bowman. Isaac had two wives and 13 children. Philip, his oldest
son, moved from Shenandoah County, VA with his wife, Isabella
Richardson, and family to Switzerland County, IN.
The family received 200 plus acres under Gen. George Rogers
Clark's land grant. George Bowman was a lieutenant with Gen.
Clark and his uncle, Maj. Joseph Bowman, when Vincennes was
captured.
Some of Philip's children married into the families of Dorrell,
Harwood, Sedam, Gillion, and Alle. Rebecca Bowman was the child
of Philip and Isabella Bowman.
Rebecca is the:
first cousin 3 times removed of Warren Dorrel
great- grandmother of Dillon R. Dorrell, Sr.
great-great-grandmother of Dean Carrigan
great-great-grandaunt (by marriage) of John S. Dorrell
William and Rebecca, and his parents, William (1775-1853) and
Mary "Polly" (Light) Dorrel (1785 -1859), are buried in Carmel
Cemetery near Aberdeen. They’re listed in Ohio County
Cemeteries, page 38."
