"daughter of Richard Hall of Calvert County (d. 1688), who was on the the Burgesses for the County 1666-1670, and 1674-85. He names in his will "my daughter Rachel now wife of Walter Smith,"and leaves her a tract of 300 acres called Aldermason (Baldwin's Calendar, ii, 32). This tract is devised by the will of Col. Walter Smith to his daughters Rebecca and Elizabeth. Mrs. Rachel Smith was born in 1670 and died 28 October 1730. The following entry is found in the Greenfield Family Bible:---"Mrs. Rachel Smith wife & Relict of Col.Walter Smith late of Calvert Co., dec. departed this life Oct; Ye 28th 1730 in Ye 60th year of her age & was interred the 6th of Nov. following." Her will, dated 28 October 1730, was proved 3 February1730/1."

Rachel's will was proved Feb. 3, 1731 according to "Across the Years in Prince George's County" by Effie Gwynn Bowie.

"Maryland Genealogies", "Smith Family of Calvert County" by Christopher Johnston has the following information: "Col Walter Smith married in 1686 Rachel, daughter of Richard Hall of Calvert County (d. 1688), who was on the the Burgesses for the County 1666-1670, and 1674-85.
