"James served with the Amherst Militia, including guarding
British prisoners-of-war at Albemarle barracks. He was present
when Cornstalk was killed at Point Pleasant in 1777. In 1832 he
lived in Rockbridge Co. VA. I found him in the 1840 census of
Rev. war vet.still alive. He was in Mason Co. Va. now W.V.
living with a George Chapman and his wife Lucinda Wilson
(Margrey sister) at 85. I think he died in 1844 at 89. His son
John lived close by with his 2nd wife Frances C. Oldaker."
"James4 Harrison, born 1755 in Culpepper County, VA. He served
with the Amherst militia, including guarding British

to Jenny Todd. James Harrison and Mary Penn. Marriage date from
Amherst Co. marriage records Harrison, James + PENN, Polly Nov
8, 1780 Amherst Co., VA.
James lived in Botetourt co in the part that later became
Rockbridge. In his Application for Rev. war pension he writes
he was born 9/4/1755 in Culpepper co but grew up in Amherst co.
and for the last 20 years Lived in Rockbridge co in part that
was Botetourt co. this was in 1832 so not sure if the children
were born in another part of Botetourt co. or Amherst co. In
the will of Battaile, James was willed the farm in Amherst co.
In the marriages of his sisters they say John and his brother
James Jr were there and their father was James.

She was born Mary, but went by or was called by the nicknames
'Molly' and 'Polly'. See father George Penn's will for Harrison
confirmation.

Walden. His 3rd wife was Elizabeth Douglas. Her grandfather
George Penn mother Ann Fleming. Her great grandfather John Penn
who was first married to Lucy Granvilie then Elizabeth Madison.
Not sure who the mother of George was but my greatgrandfather
was Madison Harrison
my father and my middle name is Madison so I think it was
Madison."
