Samuel Lyon, planter, and Agnes Judah Lyon, his wife, of Christ
Church Parish in the Province of Georgia, sold three tracts of
land on Skidoway Island, containing together 111 acres, to John
Lightenstone, Seq., of Savannah for five shillings, viz. fifty
acres being Village Lot No. 11 on the Island of Skidoway, forty
acres being Village Lot No. 12 near the Half Moon Bluff on
Skidoway Island, and twenty-one acres being seven small hammocks
in the marshes of Skidoway River. Samuel Lyon signed with his
common mark, while his wife signed " A Judah Lyon.€ This is the
first record that names the wife of Samuel Lyon. (Source:
Georgia Colonial Conveyances, Book V, p. 368 )
A 1764 petition for land on Skidoway Island states that Samuel
Lyon had a wife and three children at that time. A Grant of 50
acres of land in the village of Acton, situated south of
Savannah and southeast of the village of Hampstead, was approved
to Samuel Lyon and also to John Erinxman, both adjoining the
tract granted to Michael Burghalter.€
The Petition of Samuel Lyon and his wife, and John Erinxman and
his wife, which were presented at a Meeting on the 5th of this
Month, were now taken again into consideration and it appearing
that John Erinxman and his wife, and the wife of Samuel Lyon had
been indented Servants to the Trustees and served out their
times, whereby they were entitled to a certain donation order'd
