There are seveal real estate transactions in Williamsburg County
after this date witnessed by Samuel McCants, however, no record
of any family has been determined. Also, there was a real
estate transaction prior to this date as on Feb 17, 1818, Samuel
and Jane McCants of Sumter Dist. transferred to John PRESSLEY,
for $300, 170 acres on Turkey Creek where they had resided.
this may have been the Samuel, son of Thomas, who is thought to
have moved to Louisiana with Nathaniel's son David. There are
just so many by the name of James, Alexander and Samuel with no
other given name that it is impossible to know with any
certainty how they are related.
Possibly this Samuel McCants related: Wife Mary Thomas Mccants,
Birth: 21 April 1815-- Kershaw Dist, SC Death: 17 December
1893 -- Talladega, AL
Spouse: Samuel Mccants
Parents: Micajah Thomas, Sarah Stratford Thomas

My Emily McCants married a Porter (Rev. Charles M.). Their son,
Roger W., married Anna Higgins. Her sister was Henrietta
Higgins. When she died in 1896, W. H. Hartin (local Baptist
preacher) wrote her obituary for a local newspaper. The Roger
Porters lived in Kershaw County; the McCants' were Fairfield,
but close enough to probably still know each
other.
