Notes

There is a biographical sketch of Maj. Jacob M. Bondurant on p. 482 and a portrait of him in A book entitled HISTORY OF DAVIDSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE. (skips a generation with no mention of Edward.).

Tom/Jacob Bondurant Author: jeff Culpepper Date: 3 Sep 1999: "My ancestor Jacob M. Bondurant (according to our family records) is listed as a "Major" in what service I do not know. His wife was Elizabeth C. Read. My Ancestor was born 2/4/1795 in Buckingham County, VA and died 12/25/1858, and supposedly had a homestead in Nashville TN. My family records list his parents as Rhoda Agee and Thomas Bondurant, however all the data I can find about Rhoda and Thomas shows them having 1 son Jacob who married Jane Prunty and died 1819 in Franklin County VA. Any help? [email protected]

Josephine, I just saw your web site (My Southern Family), very nice set up. Jacob Mosely Bondurant, I have listed as the son of Edward & Magdelaine Veril Moseley. Edward was a Captain of Volunteers, Davidson County, TN 17 September 1811. There is no record that I have found indicating that he or his son Jacob M. was in the War of 1812. Sometimes a source pops up unexpectedly. I did however see a document indicating that Jacob was a Major of the Home Guards.

I believe this Jacob purchased land in Mississippi later in life, but have been unable to prove it. I hope this information is of some help. Clint
