John Smallwood Gen forum post: this letter is part of a
collection of the Smith family and housed in the Library of
Virginia. James Ware (son of Edward and Lettice) wrote in 1822
from GA. He was writing to his sister, Sarah Ware Smith, and
mentioned most of the family. He mentioned "Cousin Thomas
Waugh"; James Also, called her "sister". Since there is proof
she was Edward and Lettice's child, this letter clears up any
questions about the parentage of James, William, John, Edward
and the other "Powell" children. James names his brothers and
also his sons.
Lt. James Ware in a footnote says: I wish you inform me when you
write where our cousin Thomas Waugh is and how himself and
family are. This letter from Virginia His. Soc. MSS2, Sm616b,
pages 7-8 Wilder-Ware book.
