Daniel Quin records of his service in the War of 1812 are from the National Archives petition for Bounty Land Claim in 1851 from the State of MS, Pike Co. H. Murray Quin his attorney; statement by Jas. N. Quin, and A. H. Prewett.


Daniel arrived in Pike Co. MS abt 1812 after he had purchased public lands in MS on 5 Apr 1811. He settled at the junction of
Sweetwater Creek and Bogue Chitto River and built a grist mill near the present boundary of Pike and Walthall Cos. MS.


Many of his descendants live in this area, around Osyka, Magnolia, and Progress in Pike 7 Walthall Cos. From an early period Daniel's descendants moved southward into Louisiana. While Henry quin settled in the western part of Pike Co. and his descendants moved west into Amite County. The Bridges family settled in Lawrence Co. to the north of Pike, now Copiah Co.
Richard and Peter Quin, Jr. lived close to Holmesville, the county seat.
