Mother: INES ALFONSO de AYALA |
A version printed by Salazar y Castro in 1694 in his Pruebas de
la historia de la casa de Lara, reprinted by Alexander Croke in
1823 and quoted by Milton Rubincam, must actually date from the
middle of the 15th century, and is merely one of an existing
family of continuations and paraphrased derivative.
The most original version of the chronicle, first pub only in
1950 contains a much fuller account of Sancha's maternal
ancestry. I have used the most sound descent altho not
supported in all generations with satisfactory proof and based
in part on the pedigrees of the "Libro del Linaje"
Sancha's paternal lineage is clear for four generations before
her own. Three generations are proven by a charter of 1373, a
royal confirmation of an exchange of property between Diego
Gomez (Sancha's father) and his aunt Constanza on one side, and
a group representing the city of Toledo on the other, resulting
from the renegotiation of a legacy from Diego Gomez's
grandfather Fernan Gomez. Here Diego Gomez names his father as
Gomez Perez, who was son of Fernan Gomez and brother of
Constanza. Fernan Gomez father appears in all pedigrees as
another Gomez Perez, also alguacil mayor of Toledo."
