"Isaac's (Hite) wife Eleanor (dau) was the granddaughter of Sara DuBois and Joost Jans Van Metre. "A Genealogy of the Duke-Shepard-Van Metre Family, from Civil, Military, Church and Family Records and Documents" by Samuel Gordon Smyth, the Huguenot DuBois family and the Dutch Van Metre family were prominent families of early New York.

Thousands of descendants of Sara DuBois and Joost Jans Van Metre are shown to have relatively quickly scattered along most of the Eastern Seaboard, and many migrated west from there."

Father Samuel Swann

"One of the first Swann's in Virginia was William Swann of Southfleete, Kent. William was born at Gravesend, Kent in 1586, the son of Samuell Swann and a descendant of Baron John Swan of Kent. William Swann married Judith Greene, the widow of William Austen, at St. Dunstain's Church, Middlesex, England on April 16th, 1612. William came to Jamestown, Virginia in 1616.

William served as Land Registrar and Royal Customs Collector of the Virginia Colony until his death in 1638. Colonel Thomas Swann was his first son, born at Jamestown Virginia in May of 1616. William bought 1200 acres across the James River from Jamestown and built the Swann's Point tabacco plantation. Located in Surry County, this plantation later was repatented in Colonel Thomas Swann's name after William's death. The Swann family Coat of Arms is engraved on the tombs of William and Thomas Swann at Swann's Point and these Arms trace themself back to 1533 when they were granted to Sir Francis Swann of Wye, Kent.

1 facts about coat of arms: These are the arms of Sir Francis Swann of Wye granted 1533 and brought to Virginia by William Swann of Swann's Point, Surry County." Provided by Jeff Swann.

"The full list of Headrights claimed by William Swann is as follows: Richard Jones, Henry Dawkes, John Swan, Nicholas Stalling, Joseph Manners, Katherine Crippin, Richard Maddison, Thomas Williams, William Motts, George Yeomans, John Flood, Edward Swan, Richard Thimbleby, Nicholas Foster, Edward Champi(o)n, Judith Greene, Nicholas Barnett, Richard Perry, John Goodson, Richard Flood, Alice Edes, Mary Hawkes, Andrew Jacob and Katherine Cripps."
