Sheriff of Staffordshire, son and heir of Walter Wrottesley, Knt., by Jane, daughter and heiress of Hugh Barry, Esq., of Berkshire. He was born abt 1457 (aged sixteen at his father's death), and seems to have been brought up until the age of twenty at the Priory of St. Mary of Mount Carmel, Coventry.

They had nine sons and seven daughters (four sons died before the parents). Richard died testate between 12 Mar 1520/1 and 6 Dec 1521.
