The 1830 Ky census indicates that he had five children living in
the household. One of the female children (Elizabeth) married
Pleasant Ware Evans on Oct. 22, 1846 . They are both buried in
the Evans Cem. in Calloway Co. as is John. There are a lot of
ties between the Evans and Hodges families and I am having a
difficult time sorting it all out. I believe that John may be
the brother of Edmond Hodges b.Nov. 10, 1776 in South Carolina.
Some of Edmond's children were living next door to John or a few
doors away in the 1830, 1840 and 1850 Calloway Co. Ky. census.
I have a letter that was written by Aaron P. (dated April
21,1847- Calloway Co.) and sent to his "brother, sister,friends
and relations" in Sevier Co. In this letter there is mention of
money from the estate and who still owes- who -what! Pat Adams
Calloway County became the 72nd Kentucky County in 1823. It was
formed from a part of Hickman County. When Andrew Jackson and
Isaac Shelby purchased the area that now includes Calloway
County, as part of the Jackson Purchase, they acquired a section
of land that the Chickasaw Indians had long enjoyed for its good
hunting."
