"THE WILL OF JUDIAH AYLESWORTH. In the name of God, Amen. The
fourth day of August A. D. 1796, I Judiah Ayelesworth of Pownal
in the State of Vermont, being old, and somewhat infirm in body
yet through the goodness of God of perfect mind and memory, and
knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I do make
and ordain this my last will and testament, and first of all
I-----my soul into the hands of God that gave it me, and my body
I recommend to the earth to be decently buried nothing doubting
but that at the general resurrection I shall receive the same
&gain. And as to my worldly estate that it hath pleased God to
bless me with I give and dispose of it in the following manner.
I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Abel Aylesworth six
shillings.
I give unto my son Arthur Aylesworth two pounds.
I give unto my son Judiah Aylesworth six shillings.
I give unto my son Wanton Aylesworth six shillings.
I give unto my son Perry Green Aylesworth three pounds ten
shillings.
I give unto my son Stutely Aylesworth three pounds ten
shillings.
The above legatees have had nearly all their portion before.
I give unto my grandson Daniel Aylesworth ten pounds.
I give unto my grandson Stephen Aylesworth one pound.
I give unto my grandson Reuben Aylesworth one pound.
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Parker one silver
table and teaspoon.
I give unto my daughter Lydia Gorton one silver table and tea
spoon.
I give to my daughter Christiana Harris five pounds and one
silver table and tea spoon.
I give my daughter in law Phebe Aylesworth one silver table and
tea spoon.
I give unto my daughter Ruth Budlong one silver table and tea
spoon.
I give unto my grand daughter Ruth Aylesworth one pound.
I give unto my beloved wife one feather bed and furniture one
side saddle, one cord,( ?) cow( ?) one sheet,( P) shoat( ?), one
brass kettle, one iron kettle, one warming pan, three chairs,
one half or the pewter, half a case of knives and forks and one
table. Further my will is that for the maintainance of my wife
so long as she remains my widow or during her life time I give
unto her one third part or my farm to be improved by her during
the abovementioned term, namely, during her widowhood or life
time, with the use of the best room in the house with the
privilege in the chamber, cellar and barn, further my will is
that the above legacies to the legatees should be paid in neat
stock and horses, in some short time after my decease except my
grand-children's part, and that my will is should be paid when
they become or lawful age that is twenty one the boys and
eighteen the girls.
Further my will is that my two sons Frederick Aylesworth and
John Aylesworth should pay the legacies by me given to the
within named legatees out of personal estate in the way and
manner as has been within mentioned.
I give and bequeath unto my son Frederick Aylesworth the one
half or my farm I now live on with one half of the buildings
thereon standing to him his heirs and assigns forever to be
divided as hereafter shall be mentioned.
I give and bequeath unto my son John Aylesworth the other half
of my farm with the other half of my buildings to him and his
heirs and assigns forever to be equally divided quality and
quantity between them, namely Frederick and John Aylesworth.
I do now ordain and appoint my two sons Judiah Aylesworth and
Frederick Aylesworth my executors of this my last will and
testament and after all my just debts, funeral charges and
legacies to the legatees shall be paid by my two sons Frederick
and John what remains of my estate if any there be I give unto
them namely. Frederick and John Aylesworth to be equally divided
between them.
I do now ratify and confirm this and no other to be my last will
and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and seal the day and year above written. JUDIAH

Signed sealed and declared by the said Judiah Aylesworth to be
his last will and testament in the presence or us WILLIAM BAKER,
JOHN WELCH, CALEB NICHOLS.
STATE OF VERMONT BENNINGTON PROBATE DISTRICT, Be it remembered
that at a Probate Court holden atBennington in said district on
the 2d day of Feby. in the year of our Lord 1801 before Jonathan
Robinson Esquire, Judge of Probate for said district, upon an
instrument purporting to be the last will and testament of
Judiah Aylesworth late of Pownal deceased, exhibited for proof
and approbation by Frederick Aylesworth one of the executors
therein named, the other to wit Judiah Aylesworth declining the
said appointment, praying the same may be probated, the heirs to
the estate of the said Judiah Aylesworth deceased being legally
cited to attend at time at place above mentioned and no one
appearing to object, and the witnesses to said instrument being
examined under oath, testify and say, that the testator at the
time of making and signing said instrument was of perfect mind
and memory, wherefore the court do adjudge and decree that the
same be approved established and recorded in this office, and do
order that the executor Frederick Aylesworth do make
distributions according to the mind of the testator.

The foregoing is a true copy of the original will with the
decree of the Judge of Probate thereon. Attest ANDREW
