"JOHN" Harris was the prime mover in buying land where the French refugees were living, although his brothers bought, too. His nephew, Henry Trent 3, son of Edith Harris Trent above, also helped his uncle out by buying land. John Harris, "patentee of French land in King William Parish, made his first appearance in the records of the parish on the 1726 tithable list", purchased part of a patent from Anthony Rapine in 1728 which he sold in 1730 with "Relinquishment of dower was made by the wife of John Harris who was named Ursula."
