Thomas Taylor(#1) was the sixth child of John and Elizabeth
Taylor both of whom emigrated to Virginia in about 1648. Thomas
came to the colonies under the "Head right System" under which
persons who transported colonists to Virginia were rewarded with
grants of land. He arrived in Virginia in 1650, two years after
his parents came, transported by Richard Tye and Charles Sparrow
of Charles City County, Virginia. On that same ship was Thomas
Chappell. Chappell's grandson, another Thomas, who became the
first husband of Thomas Taylor's(#3) wife, Elizabeth Ann
(Jones/Chappell). On March 20, 1662 Thomas Taylor (#1) patented
281 acres of land on the North side of the James River near
Kings Island.
Thomas died in 1712 and in his will he names sons Thomas(#2),
Benjamin and John to be set at liberty at age 16 and for each to
receive 50 acres of land."
