"As early as 1770, Abraham was a captain in the Virginia
Militia. In the militia, he was under the orders of Governor
Patrick Henry who coordinated the militia with the army of
George Washington during the Revolutionary War. He later
accompanied his father, John, and his brother Thomas, from
Rockingham Co. Virginia to Kentucky in 1780, settling on Mill
Creek.
In 1776 he lead his company in an expedition against the
Cherokees (See "Virginia Magazine of History and Biography"
October 1922, page 400). He was killed by indians in May, 1786
in Kentucky. The Captain was thought to be "the best of the
whole kit and biling of the Lincolns." by some."
