The submitter of this data, has in all probability/practicality
reasoned out that the 1st spouse/husband of Eve Margaret
Edgemont/Egmont of Switzerland, was George Gasper Peaster. There
is no way she would have been married to George Gaspar and then
also to a son, also called Gaspar, Sr., as 2 entries in one book
(mentioned above) are leading. I have included below the exert
from the section titled Other Pioneers, for your perusal and
reasoning
deductions.
PEASTER -- Gasper Peaster (originally spelled De Peyster) was a
German. He married Eve Margaret Edgemont of Switzerland, and
they started for America in one of the early colonies but he
died on the way over. His widow, by whom he had several small
children, among them, Adam and Gasper, afterwards married George
Gray, Sr. in South Carolina.
Gasper Peaster, Jr. died in Newberry District about the year
1833, leaving wife, Margaret (Boozer) and children: Elizabeth
(m. N.G. Gallman), Simon, Spencer, David, and Adeline.
Mrs. Rachel (?) Peaster made will 14 May 1817, proven in court
13 Dec 1819, and died about 1819, leaving daughter, Rachel
Boatner (nee Eigner), and four sons, Leonard Suber, Conrad
Suber, and George Suber. There was another son, David Eigner,
who had 2 children, George Eigner and Eliza Eigner. She was
married three times: (1) an Eigner, (2) a Suber, and (3) a
Peaster (I assume this had to have been Gasper Peaster, Sr.)
Rachel was a Weyman, before her marriage to the Eigner.
Adam Peaster made will 9 Nov 1821, proven in court 9 Jan 1822,
and died abt 1821. He left wife and children whose names are not
given, but a brother Casper/Gasper, is mentioned. (I do have
record of his wife thru another source/connection. Adam married
Margaret Suber, but issue is unknown at this time.)
This undertaking of tracing this line has become very
mind-boggling and intertwined to say the least. Those of you who
requested the info on our De Peyster/Pfister/Piester/Peaster
line at the recent family reunion, I need the help of all of
you, especially those of you who have the INTERNET, which I
don't currently have, nor will have in the near future.
Other Notes: According to the Old Newberry District Quarterly,
Fall 1995, Vol.4, No. 3 issue, there is an article that was
submitted by a member on a family named Witt (Wild). In this
article, it states that this family also came over on the ship,
Upton. It left Rotterdam and came in at Charleston, SC. One
record states that this group of German immigrants arrived
during a hurricane on 15 Sept 1752.
Also, I think it is very possible that the middle name of this
subject is either Gaspar or Michael, since both names also show
up as the names of a son, as well as a grandson, of the subject.
