Frampton DOWLING "the immigrant"

BEF 1643 - bet. 1704-1735

ID Number: I44758

  • OCCUPATION: 1 Aug 1643 Virginia on board Capt. Samuel Matthews ship
  • RESIDENCE: Ireland and Augusta Co. VA
  • BIRTH: BEF 1643, Tyrone County, Ireland
  • DEATH: bet. 1704-1735, Virginia
  • RESOURCES: See: [S467] [S1624] [S3808]

Family 1 :
  1. +Robert DOWLING Sr.

Notes

"Frampton Dowling was the original ancestor of the large family that originated in Tyrone County, Ireland. He landed there on August 1, 1643 on board Captain Samuel Matthew's ship. The name of the ship is presently unknown, as well as any other family members that Frampton may have been traveling with. He did have a son, Robert, but it is unknown if this Robert was born in Ireland or in the United States. Robert's son, Robert, who was born about 1730 is often mistaken to be the son of Frampton, however at the time of his birth Frampton would have been close to 100 years in age, making it improbable that he was the father.

wonder just where on the following genealogy our Frampton Dowling fit."
