VIII. Polly Bush((2)), b. June 21, 1771; d. July 20, 1855. Her portrait belongs to cousin John Ambler and his sister, Mrs. Dr. Fleming, née Ann Gordon Ambler, children of Hon. Wm. Marshall Ambler, who was such a great favorite with his aunt Polly. I saw the portrait at Chantilly two years ago, and two pieces of furniture that belonged to Aunt Polly Bush. Mrs. Dr. Fleming resides at present (1906) at Timmonsville, South Carolina.

"Marion County, Mississippi Formed 1811 From Amite, Wayne, Franklin Counties.


Shortly after 1810, they left Robeson County for Marion County, Mississippi where they settled 7 miles below Columbia on the Pearl River, and built a large house, later bought by the Foxworth family. They owned more than 60 slaves. They were buried on their plantation where their headstones look down on the old, silent city. Senator John Stennis of Mississippi is a descendant of Silas Drake. There were four children by the first marriage.
