"cousin Mary Lou Myers, Grandmonther Mary Sandidge Higginbotham,
a sister of our grandfather Lindsey Sandidge. His wife was Miss
Ellen Higginbotham and their children were Nepoleon Sandidge,
your grandfather Brown Sandidge, and my father and there were
three girls, Ellen married a Rucker. Mary married a White and I
don't remember who Aunt Nancy married. These were my fathers
and your grandfather's sisters so you see how the Sandidge and
Higginbotham generations are inter-woven along down the line and
there are many Higginbothams up around White Sulphur Springs
now, but very few Sandidges.
Our old tramping grounds of our dear old forfathers and mothers
are in the mountains. When our first people came there, they
took up land from the government. then it was in good state of
cultivation and they made a good living. Now it has changed
hands over and over into small tracks to all kinds of people".
