Recorded in Will Book "b" p. 35, 5 Aug 1833, Williamsburgh Dist. SC: The Will of James Daniel, dated May 12, 1826 and proved August 5, 1833 leaves the whole of his estate to his wife and at her death to be divided as follows: daughter Jannet (who married John Barr), son John (who went West), son William (who married Esther Singletary). Land to be divided equally between John Daniel, Samuel Singletary (who married daughter Agnes), Alexander McCants, John Dixon's children and James McCants' children. Alexander McCants' part to be adjoining the place where he now lives. It is my wish that William Daniel get his brother John's part of the land if John Daniel does not return. Exec: John Daniel, William Daniel & Saul Singletary. Wit: D.D. Wilson, Edward Johnson, Jacob Singletary.

Six children are identified in the will: Jannet Daniel Barr; John Daniel, William Daniel, Agnes Daniel Singletary, Elizabeth Daniel McCants, Martha Jones Daniel McCants.

On Jul 11, 1839, William Daniel, guardian of Sarah Margaret and James Dodd Daniel, Agnes Daniel, Martha Daniel, and Stephen M. B.Haselden, for $700 sold to Samuel Singletary a negro boy named Dara, aged fifteen years witnessed by Jannet Barr, James A. McCants and Martha M. McCants.
