9 children. Peter WINSTON Jr b 1772 m 1) Susan JONES, 2) Nancy Crawley JONES both daughters of John JONES; Sarah, who m. John Mosby; William, marr. Martha Mosby; Ann (Nancy) m. Benjamin Mosby.


In 1772 Peter gave his brother Isaac 973 acres in Louisa County. Peter's will probated 6 December 1784 directed that his sons be placed in the care of his brother Isaac and that they be educated and "put to business as soon as they are capable of engaging in it." His brother Isaac was one of his Executors. (The Winstons of Hanover County, p. 121)


The Edward Pleasants Valentine Papers, Vol. III, pages 1664-1665, record the appraisal of Peter's estate amounting to 3803 pounds, 15 shillings and 6 pence without the land and lilsts everything from "Ginn bottles to 13 hogs and 23 pigs." It is a most impressive collection of chattels. Also listed by name are 56 slaves who comprise over 75% of the value of the estate.
