John G. was living in Giles Co., TN in the 1820's. He married
Permellia Milberry TIDWELL, probably in that county. Before the
time of the 1830 Census they have moved to Lawrence Co., TN,
where he is shown living near John D., William, Thomas and David
in the Shoal Creek area. Although he had already moved to
Lawrence Co. prior to 1830, John G. did not sell his land in
Giles Co. until 1837.
John G. apparently left Lawrence Co. before 1840 as neither he
nor any of his family are shown in the 1840 census for that
county. The time of his death is also uncertain. Records show
that the heirs had 191 acres in the Shoal Creek area surveyed on
30 July 1847.
John G. and Milly had at least nine children. There is some
evidence that there were two older children, but whether these
are Milly's children, who died young, or the children by a
former wife is not known since there is nothing definite known
of them.
