"Their mother died when her sons were 3 & 5 years of age, & he and his brother went to Woodford Co. KY with their uncles, Benjamin & Joseph Watkins ca 1800. He served in the War of 1812 & was taken prisoner & sent to Canada where he was held until exchanged. After the war he married Nancy Trabue and they moved to Columbia, KY. In 1836 they moved to Nashville, TN where he engaged in mercantile pursuits. He later returned to KY and settled in Russellville where he died."


Asa Pitman was with General Harrison in the war of 1812, and as a prisoner was sent to Canada. After the war he returned to Woodford, KY and engaged in business in Versailles.


History of Woodford CO, KY by W. E. Railey p.41: "Nancy Trabue married Asa PITMAN a Baptist preacher from Chesterford Co, VA; Asa Pitman was with General Harrison in War of 1812 and as a prisoner was sent to Canada."
