"He inherited Stratford Hall when he became of age in 1809 and was the last master of Stratford. After the death of his daughter in 1820, he had an affair with his sister-in-law, Elizabeth (his ward). Her new guardian sued him in Elizabeth's behalf. Henry was financially ruined and was forced to sell Stratford Plantation. The sale took place June 27, 1822. He and wife Anne moved to Paris about 1829, where he wrote a number of books."
