Penda was the son of Pybba Pybba (570? - 606/15) (also Pibba, Wibba, Wybba) was an early King of Mercia. He was the son of Creoda and father of Penda.

His dates are sometimes given in genealogies as birth in 570, the beginning of his reign in 593, and death in either 606 or 615, but with no apparent evidence; the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle just mentions him as father of Penda, with no further detail.
and probably came to the throne in 626.

"I might add that there is not a shred of evidence as to who were the two wives of Capt John Bayne - except that his second wife was Ann, the widow of Thomas Gerrard. Proof.
The two wives are sometimes said to be 1 - Warren (and I think I know how that got started and it's not likely) and 2 - Hawkins (not likely).
I have recorded them as unknown - because that is what they are unless you have found some evidence otherwise.
Walter Bayne was the son of the first wife of Capt John Bayne and Ebsworth and Ann who m. Capt Thomas Dent were the children of Capt John Bayne and his second wife. Proof."
