  • TITLE: Capt.
  • RESIDENCE: Wales and 1611 York and Warwick Cos. Virginia
  • BIRTH: ABT 1590, prob. Conway, Wales
  • RESOURCES: See: [S2261] [S2262]

Notes

Aka: Wynne. Thomas Wynne: He probably was born in Conway, Wales. He and kinsman Owen Wynne arrived in Virginia in 1611, and he had large tracts of land in York and Warwick Counties."

Robert Wynne: He was from Conway, Wales. In the late 1500's he built Plas Mawr mansion in Conway, which now houses the Royal Cambrian Academy of Arts.

"Capt. Owen Winn, Capt. Thomas Winn and Edward Winn came over with the London Company in 1620, from Wales, the family there belonging to the nobility." It is likely that this John is the son of one of these three men, probably brothers, who came over in 1620."
