The following is taken from the Parish Register of St.
Margaret's, Westminster, and certified by Richard Gibson,
London:
"Burr Harrison, of Chippwamsic, born in England, son of
Cuthbert. Baptised in the Parish of St. Margaret, Westminster,
the 28th of December 1637. His son Thomas born 1665; grandson
Burr born May 21, 1699; great grandson Thomas born March 3,
1723.
The last Thomas was the father of the Rev. Thomas Harrison."
"Burr Harrison and his father Cuthbert came to America from
England in the seventeenth century. Burr Harrison (VII) eldest
son of Thomas (VII) inherited Chippawamsic, the family home in
Stafford Co (later Prince William). He reared a family of ten
children, and also four of his grandchildren, John, Valentine,
Thomas, and Burr, sons of his eldest son Thomas.
He educated his grandson Thomas in London, Eng., and he was
ordained an Episcopal Priest in 1774 - This is the Rev. Thomas
Harrison - Our line continues through his son John, who married
Sarah Sweeney and had twenty-one children. Of these, three,
William, Armistead, and Thomas (probably the eldest) left home
to seek their fortune elsewhere. William (my great-grandfather)
settled in Surry County, N.C., Thomas near Salisbury in Rowan
Co. and I do not know what became of Armistead.
When my grandfather, James F. Harrison (son of William) was sent
to Richmond with messages during the Civil War, he came in
contact with Mr. Burton Harrison, a member of Jefferson Davis'
staff and father of Fairfax Harrison, noted genealogist and
Virginia historian. Mr. Burton Harrison gave him the foregoing
information and straightened out the line for him - this was
told me by my grandfather." [S845]

Licensed for Trinity Parish, Maryland. Was minister of
Bloomfield, Parish, Culpeper County and Dettingen Parish, Prince
William County, both in Virginia. Was appointed a justice of
Prince William County, VA. Children: Cuthbert Valentine, Thomas,
Frances, Philip, Ann Barnes, Sythia (or Seth), Burr, James,
John, Walter, Elizabeth, Sarah."
Per The Five Generations of Burr Harrisons of Va., Thomas had a
Journal all about the Harrison ancestry.
