I haven't found Priscilla, but the 2 early McGraws that got land
in 1745 on Little River were Solomon and Edward, S..
James A. Andrews, who according to The History of Pike Co. Ms
settled in Ms in 1800 and married a Miss McGraw in Pike Co.
David McGraw settled in the same area about the same time. I
have reference to a marriage record of Marion Co.MS of a James
Andrews and a Jamima McGrew. I have requested a copy of this
record but have not as yet received it.
David McGraw, settled in Pike Co.Ms c1810. He may have had a
daughter or been related to Priscilla McGraw or a Jamima McGraw.
"Richard C. Renner" [email protected] Subject: Re: Andrews &
Priscilla (McGraw?)
A few years ago I was on Prodigy and printed notes from Kathy
Howell who was also looking for her husband's line of Andrews in
SC. One said: I am researching my husband's maternal line,
Andrews. His gggfather was James A. Andrews, who according to
The History of Pike Co. Ms settled in Ms in 1800 and married a
Miss McGraw in Pike Co. Women are often so difficult to track
that I posted this note about David McGraw who settled in the
same area about the same time. I have reference to a marriage
record of Marion Co.MS of a James Andrews and a Jamima McGrew. I
have requested a copy of this record but has not as yet received
it.
An undocumented family tree which I obtained from a cousin of my
husband shows James Andrews married to a Prisilla McGraw but the
dates are mid 1700s and that doesn't seem to fit.
I would be delighted to obtain information on this early PikeCo.
McGraw line to see if any of this fits. Kathy Howell I tried to
send her a note yesterday but it came back so she is no longer
on Prodigy or at any rate doesn't have this same email address.
I found her name using Switchboard, the people finder on the
internet, and this is the address for Kathy Howell, 2112 Hampton
Dr., Harvey, LA 70058-1408.
I hope this is the right Kathy because I had Harvey ,LA written
down by her name.
In another note she said she was seeking David McGraw, settled
in Pike Co.Ms c1810. He may have had a daughter or been related
to Priscilla McGraw or a Jamima McGraw.
In trying to sort out my McGraws in SC, I found in The Church
History of MS, that a William McGraw had these children:
William Jr.; Gracey; Edward; Margaret M.; JAMIMA; Matthew;
James; Esther; and Emma.
William may be the William in the returns of Col.Thompson's
militia roll as born in 1745 Ireland. This would have to have
more investigation, though.
I know Edward Sr's children from his will, which is in the SC
genweb archives, but no one has found out anything about Solomon
Sr. except there was a Solomon, Jr. There's a chance that
Priscilla was his daughter. If you have any way to check into
Solomon Sr.. you might be able to find out who he married & when
and who his children were.
I'm afraid I'm stuck in a place with no genealogy records at all
so I have to go 150 miles to check records and even thing they
are skimpy. I was pretty much benched until I got online with
Prodigy and then AOL and now with a ISP. I hope we can exchange
info as I'd love to put the family portrait together at long
last.
If you would like a copy of the Regulators' Pardon or the early
land records of the McGrws---also in the genweb archives, but
can't get them for some reason, I will send them to you email.
Carol
