"A charcoal portrait, believed to be her, hangs in the DAR headquarters at Duncan's Tavern, in Paris, Kentucky. Gen. J. P. Hawkins stated that Polly was buried, with her son Elijah Craig, at Great Crossings Church, with the inscription, "Mother of the Many Faithful.""


"Mary Hawkins married Tallifero (Tolliver) Craig about 1730. They moved to Kentucky in 1781. They reared 11 children and Mary "Polly" lived to see 84 of her grandchildren. (The history of this family is found in the "Sanders Family of Grass Hills" by Virginia Parker - also the Hawkins part of this family. (Ref. "Grandfather Minter brought with him a cotton and woolen spinning mill....of the treadmill variety....The mill grew; steam was applied in time. Now a fine big mill of many bales per day has evolved from that modest little one-horse driven mill in Columbia."
William Minter is listed in the 1850 census in Maury Co. TN living in the household of his daughter & son-in-law, Mary Minter & W. S. Rainey." [S180]

John Pardue and Sarah, his wife, sell to Henry Walthall 400 acres excepting the grave yard - of and granted to John Adams by Patent dated June 20, 1733. Both John and Sarah sign by mark. Note: John and Sarah have given their land to sons, John and William in 1758. Sarah probably inherited this land from John Adams. Sarah signs because she has a dowry right in the land. Ref: Va. Land Transactions, Warren (Bute) County. 19 January 1768 John Perdieu gives 100 acres along Johnson's line to son, Fields Pardue who is now abt. 20 years old. Ref: N.C. Land Transactions, Warren (Bute) County. 24 March 1768 John Pardue signs his Will, to wit:"(Bute) County.....Give to my beloved son, John Perdue, that tract of land whereon he now lives from Johnathon Johnson's creek down to Owen's Creek and all over Owen's Creek on the North side of said Creek. Give to my two beloved sons, Joel Perdue and Morris Pardue the land and plantation whereon I now live to be divided between them at the discretion of James Moore and that they may have the benefit of the land as soon as they have judgment to manage their business, only the house and plantation I give the use and benefit to my beloved wife during her life. Likewise, I give to my beloved wife my lot of land that I had of John Dawson during the term I leased it for and her life, and if she shall die before the time is out, I give it to my son Richard Perdue. I give to my three beloved sons, William Perdue, Joseph Perdue, and Adams Perdue, five shillings sterling apiece.I give to my beloved daughter, Phebe Perdue, 1 feather bed, bed and furniture. Lastly, I do give to my beloved wife my three Negroes, Jack, Peter, and Will, to have the use of her life, and at her death, if the aforesaid Negroes are living or any of them, I give them to my beloved sons, Richard Pardue, Bevel Perdue, and Lilistone Perdue to be appraised by fit persons with the rest of my estate not yet mentioned which I also give the use of to my wife during her life and then to be divided with the appraised value of the Negroes between my three beloved children, Blackman Perdue, Sally Perdue, and Ann Perdue, and if the value be more than that of the household estate and stock, then the aforesaid persons to wit, Richard, Bevel, and Liliston, shall pay out of their value so that they, the six last mentioned children, shall have a just and equal division of all. I give to my beloved son, Field Perdue one feather bed and furniture to be paid at the death of my wife or before it if can be spared.Appointed James Moore and wife, Sarah Perdue as executors. 7 May 1782 Sarah Purdue (ca. 1757 - ) age abt. 25, probably the daughter of John and Sarah Pardieu, accompanies Blackmon Pardue, her brother, to Granville County, N.C. and there marries this date, Daniel Meadows. Two years earlier Blackmon had married Rachel Meadows. Both probably, the children of James Meadows.

Book on Chesterfield County History says: William Perdue, a French Huguenot, received a patent of 240 acres in 1744. John Perdue in 1746 patented 400 acres." Book entitled "Virginia Colonial Abstracts" mentions William in 1732 and 1736 and John and Richard in 1736."
