Aaron Quisenberry b Caroline Co. ca 1720, d Orange Co 1795,
[Antient Press OE.WB-06), appraisers returned Inventory into
Court, recorded 28 April 1795; m Joyce Dudley, Dau. of Richard
Dudley and Joyce Gayle of Spotsylvania County, they had at least
eight Children.
In the book, "History of the Haggard Family in England and
America", by Jennie
Haggard Ray, page 136: " AAron Quisenberry, who purchased a
plantation in
Spottsylvania Co., Nov. 6, 1756, and in 1796 he bought 614 acres
of land in
Orange County, Virginia. Of his wife, JOYCE, we have little
authentic history.
They were all Baptists....Aaron Quisenberry, Sr. died in 1795,
leaving a large
estate to his wife and children."
There is a discussion of Aaron Quisenberry and his wife Joyce on
pages 44 and 45 of "Genealogical Memoranda of the Quisenberry
Family" (1897) by Anderson Chenault Quisenberry. (p.42:"His
(Thomas Quisenberry's) son Aaron, the date of whose birth is
unknown, first appears in 1746 in what is left of the records of
Caroline county, and was then
probably just of age, or thereabouts. That he removed from
Caroline county is shown by the records of Spottsylvania county,
which give evidence that on November 6, 1756, 'Aaron
Quisenberry, of Spottsylvania county' bought of Richard Thomas
614 acres of land in St. Thomas parish, Orange county. The date
of Aaron Quisenberry's marriage, as well as the maiden name of
his wife, are unknown.It may be that she was Joyce Dudley,
daughter of Robert Dudley and Joyce Gayle..Robert Dudley lived
in Spottsylvania but had a plantation in
Orange, adjoining that of Aaron Quisenberry, and they were all
Baptists together."
