Samuel and Robert Maurice lived in Kingstree and in the 1870
census they say their father was born in NC. Now there was part
of SC that once was NC...close to the border and I think they
may have been born in NC before it became SC. Or maybe they were
born further up in NC...don't know. Wish I could find out.
NOWHERE do we find any info on Eleazer Morris (Maurice, Morrice)
before 1820 when he shows up in Williamsburg County. His brother
Robert was there in 1810 and I believe in 1800. There is a gap
for Eleazer between when he should have matured at about 1784
and 1820. We can't find him anywhere...maybe he was in his
father's household. What I have to do is get all census records
for NC for 1770-80-90-1800-1810 and see if there are any where
father and son may have lived in same household that long. I'll
do that when I go back to LDS Library. In 1770 he would be less
than 10, in 80 about 16, in 90 about 26, in 1800 about 36 and in
1810 about 46. He did live to be a ripe old age, dying after
Robert who died in 1848. Eleazer does not show up in the 1850
census so I suppose he must have died between 1848 and 1850.
Thanks. Dorothy
