"Margaret wound up in Arkansas because Pendleton was a friend of
a man named Hunsicker, who married Margaret's sister, Maria
Christiana. The four of them went out there together. I think
a Pendleton brother was also part of the group. All were
homesteading. For that reason, I was particularly interested in
the letter on your site from a grandmother talking about her
memories of growing up there in somewhat the same time period.
If you'd like more info on the Humrickhouses, let me know. Mary
Jane Mary Jane Anderson in St Joseph, on a bluff overlooking
Lake Michigan."
" One of the brothers of Margaret Humrickhouse's father Albert
was named Samuel (1801-1836 or 1842). Samuel's wife was named
Eliza Rickard; they had 9 children. That Eliza was born about
1800, and was still living in 1870. My guess is that the later
Elizabeth is a descendant in the same family, there in
Shepherdstown or its environs."
