He was thought to be a Major. When Gen La Fayette began the
campaign that would end with Cornwallis' surrender at Yorktown,
Major Richard Harrison served with the contingent of Amherst
militia that was called to duty there. He served as a
substitute for his brother, William, who died the next year. He
had a land grant in Lincoln Co. Kentucky.
His will was proved June 1820 and his widow and seven children
were named:
He married Susanna Lee, daughter of Ambrose and Francis (Penn)
Lee. (Francis Lee subsequently married Drury Tucker, a widower.
Tucker's daughter by his first marriage, Milly Tucker, married
Richard4 (Charles3 Andrew2) Harrison. See page XXX.) About 1805,
he moved to Patrick County, VA, where his will was proved in
June, 1820. His widow and seven children were named; they were:
"Sally, Lucy, and Nancy Morton, children of John Morton, dec'd,
and their mother Nelly Morton, widow and relic of John, sold to
Richard Harrison 20 acres of land with a mill on Harris Creek,
for L200 on Nov. 10, 1814 (D.B. M, p. 653, Amherst Co.)." p.

"Bennett Rucker and his wife Joanna sold 490 3/4 acres of land
to Richard Harrisson, Apr. 26, 1815 (D. B. M, p. 717 Amherst Co.
Vir." p. 130
Richard Harrison listed as captain of District No. 8 of Amherst
Co.Virginia 1780's p. 132
Acted as security for administration of the estate of Isaac
Rucker Aug 16, 1813. p.133. 145
Lot number 5 of estate of Drury Tucker fell to Richard Harrison
and wife Milly. Will date 24 Feb. 1798, probated 2 Sept. 1801.

A book in the College Library, once belonging to John Tayloe of
"Mt.Airy", in Richmond County, Va., has the same arms as are on
the tomb of Elizabeth Bacon, above mentioned.]
