The Campbells apparently were among the Scot Presbyterians
brought over to Ulster, Ireland from 1616 to 1620. The records
show that 40,000 Scotsmen came over at that time. James IV of
Scotland (James I of England) tried to solve both the Scot
problem and the Irish problem in this way. The Campbell clan was
in disgrace in Scotland because of the massacre of the McDonalds
by them at Glencoe.
