Jeanette was a member of the Albert Sidney Johnston Ch #79 UDC
in San Francisco and later a member of the Joseph LeConte
Chapter #951 in Berkeley CA. I was reviewing some old division
records recently and I found an original UDC application dated
14 April 1908 in the Division files. She states on the ap "I
was born on the 7th day of March 18__ county of Williamsburg
state of South Carolina USA. I am the wife of Henry E. Footman
who belonged to Co C 25th SC Reg and he was discharged at the
close of war. Present address 1750 10th Ave Oakland county of
Alameda state of California". the ap is signed Janette M.
Footman ...... One of the endorsements is Mrs. E.C. Dozier the
other is Jannette D. Harris.
notations on the application indicate she died in 1919. Another
notation says "transfferred from Albert Sidney Johnston to
Joseph LeConte." I believe the application is her
application/transfer to Joseph LeConte since it was chartered in
1905 and is still active today. A.s. Johnston was chartered in
1896 and disbanded in 1982.
