"In 1719 Samuel Cobbs obtained a license to keep ordinary in
Willimasburg. In 1717 he married Edith, daughter of Jean Marot,
a French Huguenot innkeeper of Williamsburg. He removed to
Amelia County and his will dated June 27, 1757, was proved there
July 28, 1757.
