Capt. John Haynie, Sr. was probably born in Buck's Row, in or
near Elizabeth City County, VA, where his family was living in
1623.
He was a Representative to the Virginia House of Burgesses in
1657-1658 for St. Stephens Parish, VA.
He served as a clerk of the Market, Wiccocomico and Little
Wiccocomico on 20 Nov 1655. He also served as a Sheriff and a
Constable, as well as a King's Attorney. At court on 19 Apr
1693, John Cralle was appointed Constable for Cherry Point, and
John Haynie, Sr. was appointed Constable for Upper Fairfield.
He was sworn as a surveyor, 16 Jun 1661, and was a member of the
vestry of the Wiccocomico Episcopal congregation.
He was a commander in the Susquehanna War in 1677. He was
designated a field officer with the rank of Captain in
Northumberland County, under Colonel Robert Carter. This
appointment was by order of the Council in "Her Majesty's Colony
and Dominion of Virginia" and bore the date 17 June 1703."
John's will is believed to have burned in the courthouse fire of
1710. It was recorded and proved at the court of Northumberland
County, VA, Order Book 4, 1678-1698, Part 2, pg. 781. Court was
held on 22 Jul 1697, and Capt. Haynie's will was proved.

1650-1655" by Ruth and Sam Sparacio, pg. 53.

46 persons into the colony.
His will may have been proved 22 july 1697. it is belevied to
have burned in 1710.
