Mother: Ann MOTLEY? |
from Gary Young Msg: "The Anthony Hundley who died in Washington
Co Ky in 1811 was a generation older than the Anthony who
married Charlotte Walton. He was the son of Charles Hundley who
died in 1778 in Amelia Co and was probably born ca 1735-1740.
He was married lst to a Miss Dupuy, daughter of Peter Dupuy, and
had five children by her: Anthony, Elijah, Charles, Ann, &
Elizabeth. This first wife died before 1773 and Anthony married
Mary (maiden name probably Estes). Anthony had moved to
Lunenburg Co., Va by ca 1768 and into Charlotte Co., Va by 1772.
By this second wife Anthony had the large family named in his
1811 will. He had migrated to Washington Co., Ky circa 1793. It
was this Anthony who made the deposition regarding his eldest
son, Anthony, having died in the Revolution. The soldier Anthony
died unmarried, of course."
"Anthony Hundley b. 15 Oct 1732, Amelia Co., VA, m. (1) ABT
1753,8 Elizabeth DuPuy b. ABT 1725, VA, (daughter of Pierre
"Peter" DuPuy and Judith LeFevre d. BEF 29 Jun 1773,8 m. (2)
BEF 9 Jan 1772, in Charlotte Co., VA,8 Susan Mary Estes b. ?.8
Anthony died 10 Jun 1811, Washington Co., KY. His will was
signed 20 Sep 1809 in Washington Co., KY. However, it names
only the children from his marriage to wife Mary and none from
his alleged 1st marriage to Elizabeth DuPuy. The facts that he
was at least 7 years younger than Elizabeth and was age 61 at
the birth of his youngest child of his 2nd marriage are also
troubling. The children from his 1st marriage named as the
grandchildren of Pierre DuPuy in his 1773 will. All but
Anthony, Jr., were named in Judith DuPuy's 1783 will.
Elizabeth: Since she apparently died before her mother, then the
Elizabeth Hundley named co-administrator of her 1785 estate
inventory was likely her grand-daughter, daughter of Anthony
Hundley. She had also died before her father's 29 Jun 1773
will, as she was not named in his will. Her children were named
as Pierre DuPuy's grandchildren in his will. Susan: She released
her dower rights in the 9 Jan 1772 sale by Anthony Hundley of
200 acres in Charlotte Co., VA. This was land given Anthony
about 1768 by his father, Charles Hundley - who probably never
resided there. Anthony and Mary's family later migrated to
Washington Co., KY; some say in 1773."
Peter Dupuy wrote his Will, June 29th,1773, naming five HUNDLEY
Grand-children;
ELIJAH HUNDLEY, ANTHONY HUNDLEY, CHARLES HUNDLEY, ANN HUNDLEY &
ELIZABETH HUNDLEY in which, he bequeathed eighty POUNDS current
money to be equally divided between them as they arrive at age
21 or, marry" This means as of June 29th, 1773, not one of the
HUNDLEY Grand-children had turned 21 years old."
"Anthony's Wife, ELIZABETH DUPUY, died before January 9th, 1772
because, Anthony Hundley sold 200 acres in Charlotte county &
MARY, his Wife, relinquished her right of Dower.
This was Anthony Hundley's second Wife, SUSAN MARY ESTES. They
had ten children;
vi Elisha Estes Hundley #9929 b. ABT 1775.8 He was named in
his father's 1809 will.

will.

1809 will.

Hughes.

Mr. Thomas #9943, b. ?.26 Her father was nearly age 21 at the
time of her birth. She was named in her father's 1809 will."
Will: Anthony Hundly (Hundley) Sept. 29, 1809-June 10, 1811
(died)
Being in a weak and frail condition, etc. First it is my will
that my beloved wife Mary Hundly remain in full possession of
all my goods and effects during her natural life for her benefit
and support.
Second I will that at the death of my wife Mary all that shall
remain of my estate shall be equally divided between my beloved
children by my second marriage Viz:

McElroy, John W. Hundley, Susan A. Hundly, Thomas C. Hundly,
Martha B. Hundly, Joel W. Hundly, and Jane C. Hundly.
Third I also desire that those pieces of property which
Susannah, Martha, Joel and Jane Hundly now claim as their own
either by purchase or gift to remain and be considered as their
property for their benefit and use.
