He held a commission as cornet in th Scotch-English army, raised to resist Cromwell. He fought in the battle of Dunbar, 9/3/1650 against Cromwell. He was captured and made to serve 5 years servitude and sent to Barbadoes, West Indies. In 1652 he along with 149 other prisoners appeared in the province of Maryland.
