Alvis 26 A: -Matthew sold his land he had inherited from Joseph Woodson to William Salmon in 30 Jul 1823. "This Indenture made this 30th day of July Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and twenty three between Matthew W. Alvis of the one part & William Salmon both of the County of Goochland of the other part Wit{nefseth} that the said Matthew W Alvis forth in consideration of the sum of one hundred & Thirty dallars to him in hand paid by the said William Salmon the receipt where of his doth hereby acknowledge & that he is morewith fully satisfied hath granted bargined & sold & by these presents so grant bargin & sell release, deliver & confirm unto the said William Salmon & his heirs & a[] forever, a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the aforesaid County of Goochland containing by estimation twenty six acres be the same more or less, being the whole interest that said Matthew W. Alvis is entilled to by the will of Joseph Woodson dec.d which will is of record in the office of s'd County with all & singlular the free [ ] & the assurtenances there unto belonging on in any wise assertaining & the reversion & reversing, remainder & remainders & every part & parcel thereof. To have and to hold the said grants track of land & premises & the assurtenan[] unto the said William Salmon & his heirs & assigns. And the said Matthew W. Alvis doth by these presents further covenant & agree for himself his heirs, executors & [ ] that he will & doth hereby warrent & define the right [ ] of in & to the said granted track of land & premises and the assurtinan[] unto the said Wiliam Salmon his heirs * assigning [ ] against the claim or demand of his, the said Matthew W. Alvis or any other person or persons whatsoever, claiming by through from or under him & also against the claim or demand of all Z& every person or persons whatsoever.
