Grape Vineyards Then and Now

These four photos were taken by Sam LaMar in September 1945 and just sent to us by his daughter, Jamie LaMar Borsodi. They were shot along Rialto Avenue between Fontana and Rialto. The first photo shows a view in Fontana along Rialto Avenue. The second photo shows eucalyptus windbreak trees along Rialto Avenue. The third photo shows the newly planted grape vineyards with a view of Rialto toward the east in the distance. The last photo is labeled "end of trip" and was also shot along the vineyards. The absence of cars and development seems amazing considering present conditions.
