Notes for LEMMA MERRELL:

Lemma could play the piano very well and taught many children music. After living with her daughter, Pauline Merrell Hall for many years, Pauline placed her in the Kent Nursing Home in Fort Worth where she spent her last few years. After her death, her daughter Pauline, took her back to Salem Irene Cemetery to be buried beside her husband, Walter Bruce.

Notes for WALTER BRUCE MERRILL:

Walter Bruce Merrell came to Texas with his brothers from Hope, Arkansas. Their parents had died and the older boys split up the children - each taking a few with them as they moved. Walter Bruce Merrell's brothers included Andrew and Wylie. At one point in time, he and wife Lemma must have lived in Navarro County as that is where Pauline's birth is registered. According to Pauline, many of Bruce's family lived for a time at Rice in Navarro County, Texas.

He became the official city photographer of Irene (his daughter Pauline Merrell Hall owned his camera). He was also a barber and he sold tailor made suits, carrying around a sample case. Men would choose the material; he would measure and order the suits for them.

His daughter, Pauline, said he died a few days before his 54th birthday.
