Edwin Ruthven Huntington, born September 28, 1839, in Shelby Co.,Ind.;married February 21, 1865, in Monticello, Wash., Antoinette Josephine, daughter of George Washington and Dorothy (True)Baker.
The Castle Rock school district was organized in 1876, with thirteen pupils of school age, and during the first six years school was held in their private home. Mrs E.R.Huntington was the first teacher to preside of the little band or pupils that attended school in this district.
From 1849 he has lived within sight of the Cowlitz river. Mr. Huntington conducts the Castle Rock dairy, which is located one mile north of town.
He milks twenty-two cows and has a nice farm of 154 acres. Mr. Huntington is a man who has seen many summers yet he is hale and hearty and vigorous.
They are Presbyterians, and he has been Ruling Elder for twenty years.
He was Judge of Probate for Cowlitz Co., two years;also Justice of the Peace and committing magistrate, six years.
