3. JOHN D.³ SMYTHE (HUGH²ANDREW¹SMYTHE) was born July 29, 1827 in Weakley Co., TN. He married, March 9, 1848, prob. Ballard Co., KY to MARY ELLEN BLANTON, daughter of BLANTON and MARTHA. She was born June 24, 1829, and died January 28, 1917.  John D. Smythe died April 08, 1910 in KY.

JOHN D. and MARY E. SMYTHE..... *"lived in KY until ca. 1862 when they moved to near Bear Creek, Johnson Co., TX. He (John D. Smythe) was only 34 when the Civil War began and may have served with the TX CSA troops. In 1880 they were living within the bounds of Tarrant Co. where he was a farmer. They were living in Parker Co. by 1900, living outside Aledo. John died 8 Apr 1910 and Mary on 28 Jan 1917. Both are buried in the Brown Cemetery in Aledo, Parker Co., TX."....
