James Blaney Mooring, Sr.

James B. Mooring Sr. - Obituary published in the Goldsboro News-Argus, April 12, 1954.

Funeral services for J. Blaney Mooring, 71, who died at his home in the Nahunta community at 12:35 p. m. yesterday following a heart attack, will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p. m. from the home.  Interment will be in the cemetery at Snow Hill.

Mr. Mooring was a former livestock dealer in Goldsboro, where he lived for 30 years.  In recent years he managed a general grocery business on the Gurley Dairy Road.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maybelle Jones Mooring; three daughters and two sons, Brenda, Kenneth, Donald, Ruth, and Rose, all of the home; four daughters by a previous marrage, Mrs. M. H. Yager of Albany, N.Y., Mrs. T.T. Phelps of Goldsboro, Mrs. C.A. Sullivan of Nahunta, Mrs. R.E. Reynolds of Ayden; four sons by a previous marriage, William B. of Charlotte, T.M., J.B., Jr. and Robert F. Mooring, all of Goldsboro; 12 grandchildren.

The Rev. C. Arthur Burton of the First Christian Church will conduct services.

Pallbearers will be Bill Crawford, Bill Fields, Melvin Jones, J.D. Jones, Russell Gurley and Kenneth Edgerton.

James Blaney Mooring, Sr. is buried in the cemetery at St. Barnabas Church in Snow Hill, North Carolina:
