A.B. Wood Passes Away

After suffering with spinal and other troubles for three years or more on Thursday night about 8 o'clock, October 27, 1921, Mr. A. B. Wood known as Elic Wood passed to the great unknown.  His suffering was unknown tho I saw him several times and he seemed to take it very patiently.

Uncle Elic was the son of the late Whitfield and Betsy Wood one of 20 children all of whom are dead except seven, four boys and three girls.  He was born and reared in Johnston County, having lived there I suppose all his life.  He was 69 years of age and twice married, first forty-one years ago to Jane Barefoot, unto which union were born 8 children, four children and wife having preceded him to the grave several years ago, four children now living.  A few years ago he was again married to Mrs. Mary Cook living peaceably together until at the Lord's appointed time he called him from this world of pain and sorrow, we hope to a better world on high.

Uncle Elic never united with any church, but was a good man.  I have never heard any other than he alsways lived a normal life, good in his home and to his neighbors.  His life was a good example for his children and all others.

The funeral services were conducted by Elder Yancey Moore Friday afternoon after which the lifeless form was conveyed to the tomb in the family burying ground where he now sleeps, awaiting the Resurrection Morning.
